National Suicide Prevention Week 9/9 ~ 9/15

Hello everyone! It surely has been a while. Ever since school started, I can barely find time to go on Pico and especially since I have lagging issues so badly on Pico that I play even less.  I really miss being on Ameba Pico, but I can't do anything about being able to play if it keeps lagging so bad.

Anyways, there was something important I wanted to talk about. I'm a little late on posting this, but i just realized that just because I can't Pico doesn't mean I can't post anything on the blog.  Well, for those of you that don't know, this week, September 9th to September 15th, is National Suicide Prevention Week and September 10th was World Suicide Prevention Day.  This week is to help bring awareness to those around us who might be suicidal and need our help.  We have to help these people before it's too late.  You don't even have to do much.  Just talking to someone who may be suicidal, or reassuring them that you'll be there for them is enough to change their minds about suicide. One person can make a difference, so if everyone worked together to show our support for this week, we can save many lives. Let people know that there is always someone there for them to support them and give advice when they need it.

Here are some suicide death statistics:

- Suicide takes the lives of nearly 30,000 Americans every year. Imagine, that's just people in the United States. Imagine how many other suicidal deaths there are in the 196 countries we have.
-Many who attempt suicide never seek professional care. If those who did, they might still be alive. It doesn't even have to be professional care. It could even be your own friend, because 80% of people that seek treatment are treated successfully.
-It is estimated that there ate at least 4.5 million suicide survivors in the U.S.
-Suicide is the 11th leading cause lf death in the U.S. and the 3rd leading cause of death among 15-24 year old Americans.
-In the song, "You Are The Heart", by Blood on the Dance Floor, in the introduction of the song, it is said that, "Every 14.2 minutes, someone in the United States die by suicide every year. Nearly 1 million people make a suicide attempt every year.  90% of people who died by suicide had a treatable mental disorder when they died."

To show support, you can wear yellow and write "Love" on your wrist.  Bring this important week to attention to everyone. People need to realize how important National Suicide Prevention Week is.  Even if you don't have suicidal thoughts, or have nevner known someone who has commited suicide, it doesn't mean you're not allowed to show you care.
